Our Experience in Community-Based Research

Difficulty and Confusion in Coding, In the first picture, we can see us struggling to build our webpage. Because our coding knowledge is limited, we often get confused and face various errors. Despite the challenges, we continued to find ways to improve our project. Interview with a Burnay Worker, In the second picture, Jillian and Angelica interview a burnay worker. In this interview, we learned about the process of making burnay, as well as the challenges and opportunities in this type of industry. Their answers contributed greatly to our research. Highlighting Finished Products, The third picture shows the different types of burnay they sell. This shows the skill of the workers in producing a quality product that Vigan is proud of. Burnay Beauty Analysis, In the fourth picture, Angelica and I are closely examining and analyzing the burnays. Reflection for the Third Quarter

As part of our community-based research project during third grade, we learned many groups and categories. We also published our results at the same time by building a webpage. During this, I learned how essential teamwork was in getting a lot done. And if it failed, you need to adjust on the challenges with it. You also learn that winning a project, as well as the result of a goal in a particular pursuit, means being receptive to information. It wasn't all smooth sailing, though. Our poor understanding of CSS made it very tough to lay out the design. It was also very hard to balance working on the project with schoolwork, so I sat up many nights finishing the assignments. Maybe the most challenging thing was building the webpage using only Notepad and Microsoft Edge as the browser. We had to reload our work constantly to see the changes. With these, I tried experimenting through some YouTube tutorials on how to write code to know how to pass through all these. Also, I got assist...

Chinese New Year 2025: Why Do Filipinos Celebrate?

Chinese New Year, which is the most vibrant and merriest celebration, is not only meaningful in China but here in our country, Philippines. It falls under the Chinese Lunar Calendar on February 29 for the year 2025. Many citizens here join in since Chinese and Filipino have had such historical relations, which stretch back to their pre-Spanish periods of trade. Many Filipino families respect the Chinese New Year, especially to those who have their residents in places like Binondo, manifesting that they have some form of culture solidarity. The Chinese New Year is amazingly celebrated among Filipinos because it leads to good fortune and prosperity. Any form of celebration is never complete without great giveaway money-filled boxes, red decorations everywhere visible, no absence of dragon and lion dances, and the malls and businesses are also on board for fun, giving away discounts and promotion for all. Chinese New Year is a celebration for Filipinos to share and celebrate their r...

Vigan Cityhood: Vigan as a Town Then and a City Now

Vigan was once a small town rich in culture and history, now turned into a city. It was previously a municipality that boasts its small streets, historical houses with Spanish architecture, and lively town residents' way of life. Items such as burnay (pot), abel Iloko (weaved cloth), and longganisa are in high demand by wholesalers and consumers alike in this trading hub in Ilocos. Even if Vigan is just a town, its economic and tourism potential had already shown itself, which manifests its development into a full-fledged city.     Due to Republic Act No. 8988, Vigan was marked as a city on September 22, 2001. The potential of the locality for the economy as well as tourism expanded since that date. In order to fulfill the needs of expanding population, there has been improvement in public service, such as education and infrastructure. Because this city still takes care of rich cultural heritage, Vigan became a UNESCO World Heritage City and, for the reason,...
