The Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 or R.A. 9262 is one of the most important laws to address the different types of violence against women and their children, such as physical, sexual, emotional, and economic abuse. R.A. 11648, enacted into the law in 2022; it raises the age for the sexual consent from 12 to 16 years. It strengthens protection for the children against sexual abuse and exploitation. The law made sure that children under 16 years cannot be counted as consenting to any act or activity of a sexual character; it also tries to put an end to loopholes in the law that make criminals escape punishment.

The raising of the age of consent by the law demonstrates society's responsibility towards protecting children from violence and exploitation. This reinforces the campaign's goal of building a safe and violence-free community for all, especially women and youth.
